San Diego climate week
Take a look into the future of fashion. Upcycle, natural fibers, and effortless style all featured on the runway at San Diego’s first climate fashion show.
an Evening at the garden of the sea
On October 8, we showed at the closing night of San Diego Climate Week's ‘The People Summit’ . Before the runway, people were swapping clothes, getting their gear repaired at the fix-it clinic, and shopping the circular marketplace. Then came An Evening in the Garden of the Sky, a fashion show built around sustainable fashion, slow fashion, upcycling, natural fibers, and local designers.
We showed two things: our hemp line, and an upcycled collection we made across the border in Tijuana.

made from what already exists
Our collection hit the San Diego Climate Week runway, and now it's yours. Hemp basics, reworked one-of-one pieces, and clothes built to be worn on repeat.
The TIJUANA COLLAB
San Diego and Tijuana are basically the same neighborhood with a border down the middle. People cross for work, family, food, and art, and a lot of what makes this region special comes from both sides.
So when we wanted to make something upcycled, we looked south. We teamed up with Felipe, a Tijuana designer and tailor who works out of a casita in the same neighborhood as Bhumi, a delicious plant-based restaurant. Sustainability is lived here. Racks of reworked denim, workwear, and unusual fabrics, get cut apart and rebuilt into something new.
We brought the hemp. Felipe brought the craft. Every piece we made together is one of a kind, because no two starting garments are the same.
The SKETCH
Yes, that SHIRT used to be pants.
Okay, so it all started with this sketch. It was based on the avocado and earth tones color way of the 70s merged with the grunge 90s Carhartt aesthetic that really symbolizes skate culture. Then we decided to make this shirt out of the Doc Flossin’s Chino pants. The pockets and zippers of the pants were reoriented and shifted to serve as functional pieces for a shirt rather than pants. The Doc Flossin’s hemp shirt was used for the trimming of the pants.
This is what real sustainability looks like. Nothing new had to be grown, dyed, or shipped to make the base fabric. It already existed. Every piece in this drop is made the same way, so what you see is what exists. When it's gone, it's gone.
where do clothes go?
Mostly, the landfill. The EPA estimated Americans threw away about 17 million tons of textiles in 2018, and around 11.3 million tons of that ended up in landfills. Only about 15 percent was recycled.
That's a lot of good fabric going to waste. Upcycling is a simple fix: take what's already here and make it better than it was. It’s common sense with a street twist which leads to better clothes.
